Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Arizona, is a distinctive restaurant built around the world’s largest Wurlitzer theatre organ, combining dining with live organ performance. The business began in Phoenix in 1972 and expanded to Mesa in 1975, where the organ became its defining feature. Originally built for Denver Theatre in 1927 to accompany silent films, the instrument was rebuilt for Mesa and later enlarged with parts from other Wurlitzers. After changes in ownership and a move to a larger Mesa facility in 1995, the organ reached its current 4-manual, 82-rank form. Played 363 days a year, it has helped make the restaurant a well-known local institution.
