Proxy Falls, or Lower Proxy Falls, is a waterfall near McKenzie Pass in Oregon’s Willamette National Forest, near Belknap Springs. Fed by springs on North Sister, it drops 226 feet into a deep canyon in a combination of cascade and plunge, ranking among the state’s highest plunge waterfalls. The site was shaped first by glacial carving about 6,000 years ago and later by lava flows from cinder cones near North Sister, creating a landscape of glacier-cut cliffs, lava fields, and dense conifer forest. After falling, the water disappears into porous ground, leaving no obvious surface outlet from the canyon.
