Renfrew Glacier is a named glacier in Oregon’s Cascade Range on the northwest slopes of Middle Sister, an extinct stratovolcano in the central Oregon Cascades. Lying generally above 8,000 feet, it occupies a high mountain setting where ice rests on an older volcanic landform. Its significance lies in this combination of glacier and volcano, with the upper mountain environment shaped both by elevation and by the peak beneath it. Renfrew Glacier is one of the United States’ named glaciers associated with Oregon’s high Cascade volcanoes.
