History
2
Fredonia was founded in 1835 as a voting precinct. Established between the Princeton and Salem stage stops, it was first called Midway, and its name was changed to Fredonia two years later. In 1887, the Ohio Valley Railroad ran one-half mile west of town. Kelsey was established there, and the two post offices combined in 1906 and retained the Fredonia name.
