Kyhv Peak is a 7,876-foot summit in the Wasatch Range above Provo, Utah, at the mouth of Rock Canyon, on the north-south Squaw Benchmark ridge. Its relatively flat top and nearby campgrounds and trailheads make it a recreation area, though the hike is less used than some other Rock Canyon routes. For many years the mountain was known locally as Squaw Peak, a name linked to an unverified legend from an 1850 skirmish in Utah Valley. Opposition to the word “squaw” led to a public renaming effort that gained force after 2017 and became official in 2022, when the U.S. Geological Survey adopted the Northern Ute name Kyhv, meaning “mountain.”
