Silas Adams was a spirited USA Civil War leader who enlisted on July 11, 1861, aided Col. Frank Wolford in recruiting the 1st Ky. Cav., served with distinction in many campaigns, succeeded Wolford in command in March 1864, and was mustered out on December 31, 1864. Born in 1839 in Pulaski County, he was later elected Casey County Attorney for two terms, served three terms in the legislature, and two terms in Congress. He was buried in 1896 in Brown Cemetery, Mount Olive.
