Mountaineer Bowl was known as the highest collegiate football field in the world and was home to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football champions under Coach Willard "Pete" Pederson in 1954, Coach O. Kay Dalton in 1963, 1964, and 1965, Coach "Ollie" Woods in 1966, Coach William "Bill" Noxon in 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1979, and Coach Carl "Duke" Iverson in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 1998.
