The Gable Creek Formation in Wheeler County, Oregon, is a sedimentary rock unit from the Albian stage of the Early Cretaceous, named for the creek that crosses much of its exposed area. Intertongued with the similarly aged Hudspeth Formation, it preserves evidence of shifting sedimentary environments across the landscape at about the same time. Its rocks consist mainly of fluvial-deltaic sandstones and conglomerates, deposited by river and delta systems, while marine fossils such as ammonites, clams, and other mollusks appear throughout. Together, these features make it an important record of changing environments in Cretaceous Oregon.
