Howard D. Jennings was an educator, scholar, mentor, environmentalist, leader, visionary, friend, and gentleman of the highest integrity whose passion for teaching and love of nature shaped an exceptional 45-year career. He served as Professor of Biology, Botany and Zoology at Keystone College, led the Youth Conservation Corps and Nokomis Program, founded the Water Discovery Center, Keystone College Environmental Education Institute and Sugar Shack, and oversaw Keystone's nature trails. In 2010, in honor of his lifelong dedication to conservation, the Professor Howard Jennings Nature Preserve was established to forever protect 40 acres within Keystone's Woodlands Campus. His impact on countless students is immeasurable, and his legacy lives on through the continuing work of those he inspired to live up to their full potential and be stewards of the natural world.
