The Robert L. Cook Veterans Memorial Plaza at Rose Park is dedicated to the men and women who serve their nation in the armed forces in peacetime and in war, and to those who will do so in the future. Dedicated on November 11, 2001 by Kalamazoo Rotary and the City of Kalamazoo, it honors service in conflicts from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, American-Mexican War, Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, China Relief Expedition, Philippine Insurrection, Mexican Expedition, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, and Persian Gulf War, as well as wars yet to be fought. It also includes the founding dates, mottos, and quotations associated with the United States Marine Corps, United States Army, United States Navy, United States Coast Guard, and United States Air Force.
