Cirque Mountain is a 13,686-foot peak in Colorado’s Sneffels Range, part of the San Juan and Rocky Mountains, about six miles west of Ouray. Named for the glacial cirques that surround it, the mountain rises sharply above Blaine Basin and Yankee Boy Basin, reflecting the rugged terrain carved by ancient glaciers. It stands on Uncompahgre National Forest land near the Continental Divide, within a tightly clustered group of high summits between Mount Sneffels and Teakettle Mountain. Ranked Colorado’s 155th-highest peak and ninth-highest in the Sneffels Range, it is also known for its alpine subarctic climate, year-round precipitation, and runoff into tributaries of the Uncompahgre River.
