The Stanley M. Rowe Arboretum in Indian Hill, Ohio, grew from trees planted in 1926 by Stanley M. Rowe Sr. and Dorothy Snowden Rowe on their own property into a major cultivated collection. Over the years, the Rowes expanded their estate to 170 acres and assembled about 1,800 species of trees and shrubs, especially conifers. A section containing many of the finest specimens was later given to the village as parkland, creating the present public arboretum of 8.9 acres. Its quality earned recognition from the American Horticultural Society in 1982 and designation by the American Conifer Society as a Conifer Reference Garden.
