Mount Spokane State Park, in the Selkirk Mountains northeast of Spokane, centers on 5,883-foot Mount Spokane and nearby peaks and is the largest state park in Washington. Dedicated in 1927, it grew from 1,500 acres to 12,444 acres by 2025. Civilian Conservation Corps crews built much of its early infrastructure in the 1930s, creating roads, trails, shelters, and recreation areas that shaped its lasting character. Notable structures include Vista House near the summit and a caretaker’s cabin. Used year-round, the park is known for extensive trails, camping and picnicking, heavy snowfall, and winter recreation including skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
