Echo Canyon State Park in Nevada lies about 12 miles east of Pioche around the 70-acre Echo Canyon Reservoir. At elevations of roughly 5,200 to 5,600 feet, it blends open water with a high-desert setting still shaped by nearby ranches and farms, and it sometimes receives winter snow. The reservoir was formed in 1969 and 1970 when Echo Canyon Dam was built on Meadow Valley Wash, and state parks operations began in 1970 after a camping area was developed. The park also stands along the historic Mormon Trail and now serves as a destination for camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, and backcountry hiking on the 2.5-mile Ash Canyon Trail.
