McFadden Building
Industry
Built in 1862 by Henry S. McFadden as a residence and store, with George W. Bryan as contractor, the building was purchased from the McFadden family in 1917 by undertaker J. Lyle Clark, who remodeled it that year into a funeral home, furniture store, and apartment house. Originally a brick building, it was stuccoed in 1927. It was subsequently maintained primarily as a funeral home by the Clark and Kirkland families.
