White Rock Forge Covered Bridge spans the West Branch of Octoraro Creek in southeastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, as a county-owned covered road bridge officially designated West Octoraro #2 Bridge. First built in 1847 by John Russell and Elias McMellen, it was destroyed by flooding and rebuilt in 1884. Its continued survival reflects efforts to preserve useful wooden crossings in a creek-cut landscape prone to seasonal high water. The single-span wooden Burr arch truss bridge, reinforced with steel hanger rods, measures 103 feet in span and 110 feet in total length, with a 13-foot deck width. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, it is recognized for both its engineering and its place in Pennsylvania’s covered-bridge heritage.
