Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a 1,049-acre federal refuge on the Columbia River east of Vancouver, Washington, protecting riverine floodplain and semi-permanent wetland habitat that includes cottonwood riparian corridors, pastures, and remnant Oregon white oak. Part of it lies within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, and it also serves as the headquarters for the smaller Pierce National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge has become a major center of restoration on the lower Columbia, where a large project is removing levees to reconnect the land to the river and restore 965 acres of floodplain habitat. It also became the site of the Gateway to the Gorge visitor center, completed in 2022.
