Nutwood Site is a pre-Columbian archaeological site near Nutwood, Illinois, dating to the Jersey Bluff phase of the Late Woodland period, about 750 to 1100 A.D. On the west side of Illinois Route 100 near Narrows Creek, it contains a large shell midden likely formed from shellfish taken from Narrows Creek and nearby Otter Creek, as well as four firepits marked by burnt limestone and igneous rock. Fragments of Hopewell pottery indicate connections to the earlier Hopewell culture, giving the site value as evidence of cultural continuity and exchange in the region. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
