The 384th Bombardment Group (H) of the 8th Air Force of the United States of America flew from Grafton Underwood, England, from 1943 to 1945. Activated in December 1942 and deactivated in February 1946, the group included the 544th, 545th, 546th, and 547th Squadrons at Station 106. Flying combat missions in the Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe campaigns, it completed 316 combat missions and 9,258 sorties. The group lost 159 aircraft and 1,579 air crew members and received the Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Clusters. Its record was summed up in the words, "We flew the missions as briefed."
