Woodstock honored local military service across several wars. A World War I service flag recorded 41 names and used symbols to indicate a nurse, overseas service, camp service, death in service, death in action, and Navy service, alongside the words, “We have helped make the world safe for democracy,” and the dates of the armistice on November 11, 1918, U.S. entry into the war on April 6, 1917, and peace on June 28, 1919. Another tribute honored those who served in the armed forces during World War II and remembered Kenneth L. Smith and John T. McKinster, who made the supreme sacrifice, with sponsorship by Chester McCreary Post 258 of the American Legion in 1953. Another honored men from the community who volunteered in the U.S. Army for service in the Spanish American War of 1898 in Company D, Ohio National Guard. A further tribute honored John A. Moran of Company B, 166th Infantry, Rainbow Division, killed in action in the Argonne Forest and buried at Romgne, France, 1896–1918.
