George Bikford was lynched from this tree in Montrose County for alleged robbery and horse stealin'. He had at one time ridden with the Daltons and was said to have participated in the Coffeville, Kansas Raid. The following morning, a burial party was sent from Montrose, but Bikford's body was gone and was never located.
