The Roll of Honor of Woodstock Precinct recorded one hundred forty-seven names and was created by sculptor Warren Cushman in 1895. It also preserved the memory of members of the Cushman family and their service in the war: Uncle George Gifford was a soldier in the 134 O.V.I. in 1864; Brother Charles Cushman was the first man to offer to go to war to the state governor in 1861 at Lincoln’s call, served in the 2nd O.V.I. and 134 O.V.I., and finished in the cavalry at the close of the war in 1864; Warren Cushman was regimental buglar in the 134th O.V.I.; Sister Lucy was remembered as one of nature’s noble women and deeply missed; and Brother Julius Cushman of the 2nd O.V.I. was killed by a cannon ball at Harris Gap, Tenn., on June 25, 1862.
