Plattsmouth Bridge was built in 1930 to replace the ferry service that had started in 1848. It was a reinforced concrete structure with seven steel cantilevered spans. The Omaha Steel Works Company were the engineers of the project. In 2008 it was extensively rebuilt and reproductions of the original ornamental lights were installed. It is 140 feet above the water.
