Built in 1889 by W.L. Huff and bought in 1892 by Dr. J.W. Park, this house became associated with a physician born in Texas in 1855 who studied at Louisville, Kentucky, Medical College. Because doctors were scarce, Park was licensed in 1877 and practiced for two years in Egypt, Texas, then returned to take his degree in 1880. After locating in Kaufman, he remained in active practice until the day before his death in 1941. He married Sallie Wiggins in 1883 and, after her death, married Lida Matilda Thompson; he reared six children.
