In the First American National Bank building that once stood here, Employers Insurance of Wausau opened a facility for rehabilitating injured workers on June 1, 1928. It was the first center of its kind established by the insurance industry, and its humanitarian work helped foster nationwide acceptance of the concept of physical therapy.
