Bristol Head is a prominent 12,712-foot peak in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, about eight miles southwest of Creede in Rio Grande National Forest. East of the Continental Divide, its runoff ultimately reaches the Rio Grande. The mountain rises sharply above its surroundings, gaining roughly 3,900 feet above the river in three miles and about 3,250 feet above Santa Maria Reservoir in 1.2 miles. A 15-mile four-wheel-drive road leads to a summit radio repeater. Its name was recorded by 1876, when it served as a triangulation station for the Wheeler Survey, and it has since been officially recognized by the United States Board on Geographic Names.
