Briscoe County Jail
Civics
4
Built in 1894 of handcut stone hauled by horse-drawn wagons from Tule Canyon, the Briscoe County Jail also served as a residence rented by early sheriffs' families, and its lower floor was used by Red Cross workers for sewing during World War I. It endures as a reminder of courage and dedication in preserving law, order, and integrity in Briscoe County.
