Abercrombie Mountain is a major summit in the Selkirk Mountains of northeast Washington within Colville National Forest. At 7,310 feet, it is the highest point in Stevens County and the second highest peak in eastern Washington, surpassed there only by Gypsy Peak. Its 5,168-foot prominence gives it an unusually commanding rise above the surrounding landscape, placing it among the United States' ultra prominent peaks and making it Washington's seventh most prominent peak. The mountain was named for Lieutenant William R. Abercrombie, who explored the nearby Pend Oreille River in 1879 and 1883, and it remains one of the region's most notable summits.
