In Collinsville, a canoe club house circa 1910 stood near the present-day nursery, and the house in back was later lost in the flood of 1955. Around 1900, ice covered the river, and circa 1910 there was a view of the river from the tracks. A station circa 1911 stood along the bend of the river approximately where the cannon now stands, with a hotel next door, and the station and a boardwalk ran along the tracks beside the river. The flood of 1955 affected the site of the present-day kayak and canoe shop, and used grindstones were incorporated into foundations throughout Collinsville.
