Mount Airy Arboretum is a 120-acre public arboretum within Cincinnati’s much larger Mount Airy Forest, serving as the cultivated botanical center of a park shaped by reforestation and conservation since 1911. The forest grew from an initial 168 acres to nearly 1,470 acres, with hardwoods, evergreens, native woodland, and meadow restored across the landscape. Within it, the arboretum holds more than 5,000 plants representing 1,600 species and varieties of woody plants. It is especially known for one of the Midwest’s finest dwarf conifer collections around a one-acre pond, along with diverse plantings of magnolias, maples, oaks, dogwoods, lilacs, hollies, and other ornamental and native species.
