Williams Peak is a 2,123-metre summit in the Chilliwack River valley of southwestern British Columbia and the highest point of the South Hope Mountains. Near Chilliwack Lake and the Canada–United States border, it drains into tributaries of the Chilliwack River. Its name was officially adopted in 1955, though James J. McArthur and E.T. de Coeli first recorded an ascent in July 1908 by the southwest ridge. The mountain reflects a landscape formed first by the Chilliwack batholith and the wider Pemberton Volcanic Belt, then later carved by repeated Pleistocene glaciations. Heavy Pacific precipitation and severe winter cold shape the mountain’s challenging climbing conditions.
