White Rock (Cambria) State Marine Conservation Area is a 2.32-square-mile marine protected area off Cambria on California’s central coast, created in September 2007 as part of the first phase of the Marine Life Protection Act Initiative. It protects diverse habitats including kelp forest, rocky intertidal shoreline, reef, sandy bottom, pinnacles, and offshore rocks, supporting sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, and seabirds. Taking living marine resources is generally prohibited, with limited commercial kelp harvest allowed under certain conditions. Adjoining Cambria State Marine Conservation Area and lying offshore from the Kenneth S. Norris Rancho Marino Reserve, it is also part of ongoing scientific monitoring of ocean health and protection effectiveness.
