Mount Ararat, in the villages of Belmont Corners and Orson in northeastern Pennsylvania, has its summit in Orson and is the highest point in Wayne County, as well as one of the higher elevations in eastern Pennsylvania. Although it stands within the Glaciated Low Plateaus, a region of low rolling hills and modest relief, its summit rises clearly above the surrounding countryside as a distinct local high point. The mountain is also important as a drainage divide: its west and north slopes feed the East Branch of the Lackawanna River and the Susquehanna watershed to Chesapeake Bay, while its east side drains through the West Branch of the Lackawaxen River to the Delaware River and Delaware Bay.
