Major General J. E. B. Stuart, C.S.A., was born near Stuart in Patrick County, Virginia, on February 6, 1833, and was mortally wounded in the Battle of Yellow Tavern before dying on May 12, 1864. He is remembered along with the Confederate soldiers of Patrick County.
