Figueroa Mountain is a forested summit in Santa Barbara County within Los Padres National Forest and the San Rafael Mountains, where it forms the heart of a recreation area famed for seasonal wildflower displays. Named for the prominent southern California Figueroa family, associated most notably with José Figueroa, governor of Alta California from 1833 to 1835, the mountain has also lent its name to a brewing company and to the Figueroa Sulfide, an Early Jurassic deep-sea-vent-related biological community. After wet winters, its grasslands and oak woodland are especially noted for vivid spring blooms, making it a distinctive California destination.
