Charles Edgar Clark was born in Bradford, Vermont, on August 10, 1843, and died in Long Beach, California, on October 1, 1922. He entered the Annapolis Naval Academy on September 29, 1860. He served with Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay on August 5, 1864, took part in the race of U.S.S. Oregon from California to Florida from March 16 to May 26, 1898, and was present at the battle at Santiago, Cuba, on July 3, 1898.
