Price Mountain is a protected, largely roadless wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia, valued for its backcountry character, ecological diversity, and recreation. Part of the Craig Creek Cluster and recognized as a Mountain Treasure, it includes maintained trails, old logging roads, and railroad grades that reflect heavy early 20th-century timbering. Its Ridge and Valley terrain ranges from sandstone and shale ridges to richer drainages and broader limestone valleys, supporting varied forests, including about 335 acres of old growth. Special biological areas, rare plants, and roadless-area protections have made it important for conservation, solitude, and non-motorized use.
