Atoko Point
Nature
Atoko Point is an 8,382-foot cliff point on the Walhalla Plateau in the eastern Grand Canyon of northern Arizona, in the East Rim area of the North Rim country. Two headwater canyons divide around it and send runoff east toward Upper Kwagunt Creek and the Colorado River in the southern end of Marble Canyon. The point is notable for the clear exposure of the Grand Canyon’s layered geology on its cliff face, where Kaibab Limestone overlies Toroweap Formation and white Coconino Sandstone, above dark red Hermit Shale and the bright red-orange beds of the Supai Group.
