Sierra-at-Tahoe is a ski and snowboard resort in Twin Bridges, California, in the Eldorado National Forest along U.S. Route 50 south of Lake Tahoe, and it ranks among the principal ski areas on the south side of the Tahoe basin. It began in 1946 as Sierra Ski Ranch, opened by brothers Ray and Floyd Barrett at a different site on the highway, and moved to its present location in 1968 after highway widening began. The resort passed through several owners over time and became known as a medium-sized Lake Tahoe area destination with a family-oriented atmosphere, strong snowfall, and terrain balanced across beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs.
