Originally conceived in 1864 by the Synod in session at Selma as a home for children of Confederate dead, the Presbyterian Home for Children opened at Tuskegee in 1868 and relocated to Talladega in 1891. It became a haven for dependent youth of Alabama, providing training, education, and worship in a Christian atmosphere.
