Judge Laird Goldsborough lived here from 1897 to 1970. As onetime Adjutant General of the Philippines, he authored the islands' first constitution. Part of the house is of pre-Revolutionary construction. Other members of this Caroline County family distinguished for public service included W. E. Goldsborough, U.S. Consul in Amoy, China; T. Alan Goldsborough, a longtime U.S. Congressman and Federal Judge; Dr. G. Winder Goldsborough, a general practitioner and state legislator; and Elwell Goldsborough, a nationally famous electrical engineer.
