Pallett Mountain, a 7,760-foot peak in the San Gabriel Mountains within Angeles National Forest, rises south of Pearblossom in a dry, fire-prone range where snow is common at higher elevations. Named for the Pallett family, whose ranch stood near Big Rock Creek Canyon, it has long been part of the local landscape, appearing on maps by 1916 and on Angeles Forest maps by 1963. Known among hikers as a strenuous destination requiring more than 3,500 feet of elevation gain by any route, it gained added prominence in 1965 through the Sierra Club Hundred Peaks Section list. In 1966, a Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar crashed nearby, killing all four crew members.
