Perry County
Civics
Perry County was established by an act of the state legislature signed by Governor William Findlay on March 22, 1820. Landisburg was the first county seat. The first court house, a log building located northeast of Trinity United Church of Christ, was rented by the county for $50.00 a year, and all other county offices were located in the homes of the officials. On March 22, 1970, a sesquicentennial commemorating Landisburg as the first county seat was held at Trinity United Church of Christ on a cold snowy day, with warmth abundant in the hearts of all who attended in appreciation of their freedom-loving ancestors.
