A flagpole was erected and dedicated on June 14, 1986 through the determination of Robert F. Beal, Jr., a Vietnam veteran, and the generosity of Thomas Hastings, in memory of POW/MIAs still held in Southeast Asia. With continued support from the Hingham Conservation Commission, VFW Post 6053 under Commander Bob Cusack, and the citizens of Hingham, the flags will continue to fly 24 hours a day until the complete disposition of all POW/MIAs is resolved, with the message: Brothers, You Are Not Forgotten.
