Flagstaff Mountain is a 6,983-foot foothill on the eastern flank of Colorado’s Front Range above Boulder, in the Flatirons region and within Boulder Mountain Park. As part of the first rise from the plains into the Rocky Mountains, its summit offers sweeping views over Boulder, Metropolitan Denver, and nearby ranges. The mountain also serves as a major recreation area, with hiking and bike trails, picnic grounds, the Summit Nature Center, an outdoor amphitheatre, and the Flagstaff House Restaurant. A smaller feature, Hobo Cave, sits beneath a rock buttress and is sometimes used by climbers for bouldering. Today it remains both a scenic overlook and an accessible mountain landscape.
