Green Mountain is a prominent summit on the eastern flank of the Front Range in the Rocky Mountains, just south-southwest of downtown Boulder, Colorado, within Boulder Mountain Park. Rising above the city’s western edge, it is closely identified with the Flatirons on its eastern flank, the dramatic slanting rock formations that form one of Boulder’s defining landscapes. At the meeting of the plains and mountains, it stands out as a conspicuous local landmark against the lower foothills. More than the site of a single event, Green Mountain is significant as one of the best-known natural features overlooking Boulder and shaping the city’s outdoor setting.
