South Boulder Peak
Nature
South Boulder Peak is the highest summit in Boulder Mountain Park, rising at the park’s southern end in the Front Range near Boulder, Colorado. Connected to Bear Peak by a saddle and bordered on its southern flank by Eldorado Canyon State Park, it is commonly reached by the Shadow Canyon Trail or from Bear Peak. The mountain was also affected by the Flagstaff Fire, which erupted on June 26, 2012, burned an upper section of the peak, and prompted evacuations in south Boulder. Although no structures were lost, the fire became part of Colorado’s notably active 2012 fire season.
