Until 1897, this area was the site of the South Street Grade Crossing and was known as West Warren Common. The Triple Arch Stone Bridge carried passage over the railroad tracks and the Quaboag River. Damage from the 1955 flood led to the river being widened from 60 feet to 100 feet, and in 1962 the Triple Arch Bridge was removed. In 2008, the tracks were lowered to allow taller railroad cars to pass under the bridge site. A mill complex was established here between 1800 and 1810, when Ben Richardson built the first mill for scythe production. The property was sold to Warren Cotton Mills in 1850, to Thorndike Cotton Mills in 1898, to West Warren Industries in 1929, and to William E. Wright and Sons Co. in 1934. During World War Two, Wrights produced over 14 million pounds of parachutes, Davan's Dyeing and Finishing Corp. made rubber decoy tanks and half tracks for the Ghost Army, and Warren Fabrics and Hardwick Knitted Fabrics produced woolen blankets.
