Bertha Peak is a 2,454-metre summit in Waterton Lakes National Park in southwestern Alberta, rising behind the Waterton townsite near Bertha Lake, Mount Richards, Mount Crandell, and Mount Alderson. Dominion Land Surveyor Morrison P. Bridgland named it in 1914 for Bertha Ekelund, an early Waterton resident who became locally notorious after trying to pass counterfeit money, and the name was officially adopted in 1953. The mountain is formed of sedimentary rock laid down from the Precambrian to the Jurassic in shallow seas, then thrust eastward over younger Cretaceous rock during the Laramide orogeny. Its subarctic climate brings cold, snowy winters, mild summers, and runoff into Waterton Lake and the Waterton River.
