Built by Whitcomb Locomotive Company of Rochelle, Illinois, in 1941, this 20-ton diesel-electric locomotive was used at Bethlehem Steel’s Electric Furnace Melt Shop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It pulled charging buggies full of scrap metal from the stock yard to the charging floors, where a charging machine lifted the boxes of scrap from the buggies and filled the steelmaking furnaces for melting.
